• Harness Xtra, Harness Xtra 5.6, and Degree Xtra are premixes of acetochlor (Harness or Degree) plus atrazine for broadleaf and grass control in corn. The 2.0 quart rate of Harness Xtra contains 0.85 lbs active ingredient of atrazine. The 2.4 quart rate of Harness Xtra 5.6 contains 1.5 lbs active ingredient of atrazine.
• Degree Xtra is an encapsulated formulation that provides a longer period of weed control compared to Harness Xtra. The 3 quart rate of Degree Xtra contains 1 lb active ingrediant/A of atrazine. The addition of atrazine (0.5 lb/A) is recommended with Degree Xtra to improve grass ansd broadleaf weed control.
• Mode of action: photosynthesis inhibitor (atrazine), shoot meristem inhibitor (acetochlor).
• May be applied up to 30 days before planting as a single application. On coarse-textured soils, do not apply Harness Xtra more than 2 weeks prior to planting. When applied early, rates should be increased somewhat compared to application at the time of planting. Including Princep in early preplant treatments may increase the longevity of grass control.
• Can be applied after planting and before corn height exceeds 11 inches and before weeds reach the 2-leaf stage. When tank-mixing with postemergence herbicides, follow the most restrictive label with regard to maximum corn size.
• Do not apply Harness Xtra using fertilizer solution as the spray carrier after corn has emerged.
• Degree Xtra can be applied in water or nitrogen fertilizer solution, but corn should not exceed 6 inches in height if fertilizer solution is used as the carrier. Do not apply in fertilizer solution when air temperatures exceed 85 degrees. Mixtures with products other than atrazine should be applied in water only if the corn has emerged. Leaf burn may occur when applied to emerged corn.
• Can be mixed with Balance to improve control of velvetleaf, annual grasses, triazine-resistant lambsquarters, and burcucumber. See Balance description for precautions to avoid crop injury.
