Efficacy of a Plant/Yeast Protein Source in Weaning Pig Starter Diets

Implications

Our overall 35 nursery trial suggests that when comparing plasma protein to Biopeptide on a nutritional basis, the performance of pigs fed were similar to those fed plasma protein. Biopeptide included in the initial nursery diets also resulted in lower feed costs per pound of gain. Under conditions where pigs where pigs were of a lower health status, the replacement of plasma protein with Biopeptides is not known.
