Browsing

Browsing is what you'll be doing in Netscape. Use your mouse to maneuver through the web pages. Netscape is fairly easy to use; most people learn to browse effectively in a few sessions.

Keep in mind you are working with "pages" of varying length. One of the things that can help you gauge page size and your relative position within the current page is the Windows scroll bar to the right of the text. If the page is wider that the window, you will also have a scroll bar on the bottom of the window. Keep your eye on the scroll bar. Use you mouse to move the scroll bar up and down or sideways.

Another important part of browsing are the links to other information. These "hot" links can be words or images. In web pages, anything you see in the browser window can be "clickable." "Link" words are highlighted in a different color and might be underlined. When you click on a link, Netscape will establish the connection to the selected link. As links are "visited," their color changes. This provides a visual "clue" to indicate to you where you've been.

Clicking on links moves you "forward." Clicking the "back button" steps you back through the previous pages. Going back helps you recover to previous locations.
