Robert Fleming, District Specialist, Farm Management, retired June 30, 2003, after 37 years of Ohio State University Extension service. Robert started his Extension career in Champaign County in 1965 where he was first 4-H Agent and then Agriculture Agent and County Chair. He served as Area Extension Agent, Farm Management in the Mt. Gilead Area from 1979 to 1983 and then became a District Farm Management Specialist for the Northwest District.
Robert has been an Extension leader and innovator. He is best known for his creative management education programs for farmers, workshops for tax consultants, seminars for agricultural lenders, and grain marketing courses for farmers. He played a key role in bringing OSU campus credit courses in marketing and agricultural finance to the Northwest Extension District. In recent years, he has gained national recognition for his work in farm rental and leasing. He and his colleague Don Breece have provided leadership for a major project funded by the Acker Professional Improvement Program. The project has resulted in numerous fact sheets, educational programs, and a CD-ROM.
