This packet of safety and health materials is designed for young people in leadership roles. These fact sheets and activities have a simple format to help the health and safety officers plan their club lessons.
Club officers sometimes feel they don't possess the power to change their friends' way of thinking or behaving. As young leaders presenting health and safety programs, officers need short, simple lessons to help guide their peers into making proper choices.
Being a health or safety officer for a youth club is a big responsibility. The officer should think of himself or herself as a safety catalyst. A catalyst is a person who makes changes in the way others think or behave about a topic. As a leader, the catalyst encourages others to assume more responsibility for their actions. The catalyst makes others aware of their personal safety and health habits.
