TILIA CORDATA Littleleaf Linden

23500 S. Woodland, Shaker Heights (Cleveland Area)

Planted: Unknown

Site: 29' Tree Lawn

1971 Comments: These trees are uniform in size and shape and provide an attractive setting for the deep setback homes. The tree lawn is very wide. The trees are located on the sidewalk side and not under power lines. Because of the deep setback and open areas, a larger tree might have been a better selection.

Spread 13.2' 14.2' 17.6' 19.4' 42.3'

1997 Comments: These plants are in huge 29-foot-wide tree lawns. Trees are growing well with twig extension of 12 inches per year. Some cosmetic problems such as aphids and sooty mold are present. The area has a sandstone walkway on sand that has been reworked in a number of areas. None of the sidewalk damage appears to be the result of the trees, which are planted about six feet away from the walk.

Ninety-seven percent of the overall planting survived (72 of 78 trees). The 1997 data in the table are based on four trees.
