1971 Comments: The trees are globose in shape and appear to be growing very well in an difficult environment. The foliage is very attractive and the flowers in midsummer add considerably to the aesthetic value of the trees.

1997 Comments: These plants are in 5 x 6-foot cutouts. These plants have done remarkably well considering the severity of the site. Twig extension for the plants is still around eight inches per year. These plants originated from seed that has proven to be cold-hardy. The Regent Scholartree is not cold-hardy in Ohio. Seedlings from cold-hardy parents are necessary for Ohio plantings.
Sixty percent of the overall planting survived (3 of 5 trees). The 1997 data
in the table are based on three trees.
