Mayfield Rd., Lyndhurst (Cleveland Area)
Planted: 1956
Site: 5' Tree Lawn
1971 Comments: The trees are upright, vase-shaped in habit (typical of this cultivar), and uniform in size. They are in poor condition with considerable winter injury on the trunks. These trees are a poor choice for street trees in cold climates, especially on a major thoroughfare such as this. They even prove to be unsatisfactory on residential streets. Japanese cherries, in general, are no longer recommended for street tree use in the Cleveland area.
