1997 Comments: The plants form a canopy over the street. Reaction by residents is mixed; some thought it was wonderful, another individual thought it was the worst tree and related stories to us about trying to rake up the leaves. The trees are in a lawn-type environment. At one time, there were sidewalks. But when the trees were placed, the sidewalks were removed.
Seventy-eight percent of the overall planting survived (18 of 23 trees). The 1997 data in the table are based on five trees.
