4425 Mayfield, S. Euclid (Cleveland Area)
Planted: 1957
Site: 2' Circular Planting Area in Sidewalk
1971 Comments: These trees are located in small planting pockets in the sidewalk and, though they are much smaller and slower growing than similar trees in other cities, they are uniform and quite symmetrical in appearance. This is a heavily travelled street in a school area and, because of the location in the sidewalk, the trees are exposed to potential vandalism. The planting pockets are much too small and appear to be difficult sites for almost any tree selection. Regardless of the adverse conditions existing in this site, the trees selected appear to be as practical as any.

1997 Comments: The area of the original planting could not be positively identified. Sidewalk cuts and trees were gone. The address given above is for the corner of Mayfield and Victor Drive which seems to fit the photograph from the earlier publication.
None of the original plantings survived.
