1971 Comments: The trees are planted in a bad sidewalk tree well, but appear to be growing quite nicely. There are utility lines overhead, but it is doubtful they will be a problem. The trees have fruited satisfactorily during the period of this study. There will be some pruning necessary to maintain a uniform character that is desirable in this particular area.

1997 Comments: None of the approximately twenty original trees survived. Six Washington Hawthorn replacements were planted in this area and remain. The replacements range from 7-10 inches in diameter and have a considerable amount of cedar quince rust.
