CERCIDIPHYLLUM JAPONICUM Japanese Katsua

7519 Brookside Dr., South Brooklyn (Cleveland Area)

Planted: 1956

Site: 25' Tree Lawn

1971 Comments: The trees are upright and growing slowly, but are well established. Because of the typical narrow form of these trees, they appear to be a poor selections for this wide tree lawn; but the trees will eventually become much larger.

1997 Comments: Survival in this stressful situation is acceptable at 47%. These plants are in a tree lawn; but it may be considered a 'lawn setting' because it is 25 feet wide. In other plantings, this tree requires a woodland-edge environment.

Forty-seven percent of the overall planting survived (8 of 17). The 1997 data in the table are based on four trees.
