1971 Comments: The trees are of columnar habit with a uniform spread and variations in height. Although this is a very formal tree, it appears to be suitable on this narrow tree lawn with shallow setback of small homes.

1997 Comments: The survival rate of these plants is high at 88%. The plants are only 10 to 11 inches in diameter. After 30 years, wounding seems to be a problem for this plant. A number of the plants are showing chlorosis that may be due to manganese deficiency.
Eighty-eight percent of the overall planting survived (50 of 57 trees). The 1997 data in the table are based on five trees.
