This version of the assessment provides information on seven categories and 25 subcategories of nonpoint source pollution as defined within federal programs administered by USEPA. It does not include updates made since 1990. It organizes surface water bodies as being impaired, impacted, or threatened by nonpoint sources alone, or by both point and nonpoint sources of pollution. For ground water, contamination incidents were considered to be impacting or having suspected impacts.
