Carnitine

Carnitine functions within the cell to transport lipids into the mitochondria to enhance their use as an energy source. Young mammals do not have the ability to synthesize an adequate amount of carnitine from lysine. Carnitine has been shown to reduce backfat thickness in finishing pigs.
