Allergies

Allergic reactions to foods occasionally occur in horses. Horses may become sensitized to allergens in soybeans, grains, bran, and molds in feed. Signs of diet-induced allergies are not specific and may include the appearance of bumps or hives on the skin, rashes, diarrhea, and difficult breathing. As in other species, allergies in horses are treated by avoidance of the plant or substance causing the problem.
