Anthracnose On Tomato Fruit

Fruit may be infected when green and small, but symptoms do not appear until the fruit ripens. Sunken, circular spots appear on fruit and later these spots deepen and enlarge becoming dark in the middle.
Many minute, dark specks are arranged in concentric rings within the lesion. In wet weather, the spots may become pink and gelatin like. The fungi that cause anthracnose survive from crop to crop on infected plant refuse and in the soil. A good fungicide and weed control program as well as crop rotation are essential for control of this disease.
