Transplanting into a cover crop.
Transplanting into a cover crop can either be done by hand or with a
transplanter (RJV 600 Plug Planter). There are a few factors to take into
consideration when transplanting into a cover crop mulch. First, the time
of transplanting must be planned ahead of time. The method and time of
cover crop desiccation will have an effect on when transplanting can occur.
Second, the depth of the mulch after desiccation will have an effect on the
transplanting process. If the mulch is too thick a transplanter may have a
hard time setting plants. Also, if the soil beneath the mulch is to wet it
may be difficult to pull the transplanter, and the furrow made by the
transplanter may not be refilled .
