CR-10
Campbell Scientific Equipment (Campbell Scientific, Inc. Logan, UT) is being
used for our study. For the first year of our study 3 CR-10 units were
placed in the field. Two leaf wetness sensors (model #237) and two air
temperature sensors (107B) were used to calculate DSV's (disease severity
values) for Tom-Cast. DSV data was downloaded daily using a portable laptop
computer (IBM PS/2note N51sx) equipped with CSI software (PC208E) using an
RS232 interface cable (SC929). A tipping bucket rain gauge (TE525) was used
to measure rainfall. Soil moisture probes (CS615) and soil temperature
probes (107B) were used to monitor soil moisture and temperature differences
between mulched and unmulched treatments. In 1998, relative humidity
(CS500) and wind speed & direction (03001) will be monitored. The picture of
the CR-10 unit in the field was taken around fruit set. The tomato beds in
the background are chemically killed mulched plots. Note the uniformity of
the mulch
