Squash Vine Borer versus Bacterial Wilt
    Squash Vine BorerBacterial Wilt
Vines attacked by squash vine borer first show leaves with interveinal yellowing. The leaf veins remain green while the area between the veins turns yellow. In these early stages, there is little leaf wilting With bacterial wilt, the leaves begin to wilt while mostly remaining green. Leaf areas between the veins look watersoaked and turn olive green as if they have been scalded by hot water.
At advanced stages, leaves wilt, begin to die and turn brown but still a predominent yellow color exists. Notice how these areas between the veins start to turn brow while the leaf petioles remain erect.
At the base of the pumpkin vine, notice the large hole where lot of frass and squash vine borer larvae can usually be found. Eventually the vine and leaves begin to collapse at advance stages.
